Recovering from Crystal Meth Addiction-A True Story

Crystal meth is a deadly drug that has ruined the lives of many. One meth user out of them has willingly shared his story with us. The user’s name is John and he is a resident of Houston, Texas.

Read ahead to peep into his life that once used to revolve around crystal meth.

My First Encounter with Crystal Meth

Hello! I am John Brown and I received addiction treatment for my crystal meth addiction at Mallard Lake Detox Center.

My journey with meth began when I was 23 years old. The twenties is the age when you are eager to try out new stuff and gain as many experiences as you can. This same curiosity and eagerness landed me in the trap of crystal meth.

One of my acquaintances once offered me to hang out with them. Without having complete knowledge of what exactly they were planning to do, I accepted his invitation. Later in the evening I joined the group and drank my glass of alcohol. But as the night proceeded, one of the members pulled out a small bag containing the bluish-white crystal-like substance. That was the first time I saw crystal meth.

But that surely wasn’t my last encounter with the drug. Soon our hangouts became frequent and the purpose was pretty clear-to smoke meth.

As the days passed, crystal meth was the only thing I wanted and needed in my life. Now, my meth addiction wasn’t a secret anymore. My family knew about it. That’s when one of my cousins intervened and convinced me to seek addiction treatment. Considering my deteriorating health, I gave in to his idea and visited the rehab center.

Goodbyes are Never Easy

This is also true for meth addiction. Since I was heavily addicted to the drug, the experts at the rehab warned me that the journey wasn’t going to be easy. However, they also assured me to make it as smooth as possible.

The toughest part of meth addiction treatment was fighting against withdrawal symptoms. Meanwhile, my brain and body readjusted to sobriety, here’s what I felt:

  • Insomnia
  • Intense drug cravings
  • Aggression
  • Hunger
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Headaches

The first few hours after my last dose weren’t that bad. But the rollercoaster began after that. These symptoms lingered with me for nearly a week. Fortunately, with the help of medical experts at the rehab, I managed to overcome all of them.

Now, I am completely free from meth addiction and have learned to live a sober life. If you too are suffering from a similar problem, join Mallard Lake Detox Center’s meth detox program. Call the center now to know more.
